Burns & Stella

I have a little photograph in a little drawer next to my desk. An unknown photographer took the photo in 1915 in Portsmouth, Ohio. The back reads, “Burns & Stella,” and lists their address.

I purchased the photograph from an antique shop sometime in the 1990s. Whenever I come across an old photo with information on the back, I try to return it to the family, or at least add the image to Find a Grave, so future researchers will have a little treasure to discover. Having a photograph of an ancestor adds so much to the individual’s story.

If you are hoping to find a photo of your ancestor, keep looking. One day, a photo purchased in an antique shop 30 years ago, currently hiding in a little drawer, may find its way online.
